fort benning 1

In this June 6, 1944 Robert is off the Pointe du Hoc.
Company B was part of the second wave of assault on Pointe du Hoc.
This second wave of assault was waiting for the password to head for Pointe du Hoc, password: Tilt.
Following a navigation error the first wave arrived late at the Pointe du Hoc she landed at 07:10
If at 7:00 the first wave had not transmitted the password, the second wave was to go to Omaha Beach.

If at 7:00 the message was not transmitted the staff considered that the attack on Pointe du Hoc had failed.
The second wave consisted of 18 LCA's carrying the 5th Ranger Battalion - Company A & Company B of the 2nd Ranger Battalion.
The sea was so bad that an LCA sank, these passengers were transferred to an LCT that was passing by.
The second wave took the direction of DOG GREEN. she was following the 1st Battalion of the 116 th Infantry Regiment 29 th Infantry Division
Company A and B was on the flank at the limit of DOG GREEN.

Omaha Beach Plage

The barge containing the second platoon of company B of the 2nd Ranger Battalion struck a mine.
