On day D-Day he would have played a role in attacking the German cantonment's Wxyz complex at the place known as "Les Mezieres"
The objective of the 502nd PIR was to take the 4 bridges that lead from Saint Come Du Mont to CARENTAN.
On June 11, 1944, at 4:00 am the men of the 502 PIR with Lieutenant Colonel COLE attacked CARENTAN.

Homer was born on October 8, 1913, in Muskogee. Oklahoma,

He was married to Mary Ellen Jones. They met while he was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia. They were married August 15, 1942. They had no children.

As stated, he was killed while leading his men in the defense of the right flank of the Ingouf Farm on the approach to Carentan.

The picture shown in the story portion is cropped from a photo that was given to me in 2001 by his wife, Mary Ellen. It was taken after a training jump in England just prior to D-Day.
