San Antonio baseball fans, sullen after the fall of the Browns and the threat of their departure from the top of the American League, which they have miraculously hung on all these last weeks, will find a new reason for sorrow in the new qu Elmere Wright, who had been a member of the Browns and had started for a while for the San Antonio club of the Texas League around 1939 and 1940, died in action in France. The big pitcher was not a regular Missions player but he was promising and when the war broke out, he was on the reserve list of the Browns Toledo American Association, scheduled for a new spring test the following year . Friendly boy, his death will be deplored in the people he met here and related to the Browns School Club. |
