Sgt. Hehl died July 20, 1944, in a navy hospital in Nantes, France. Death resulted from injuries suffered when his aircraft crashed at Nantes the previous day. Burial was made in Soldiers' cemetery at Nantes, but the body subsequently was removed to St. James cemetery, between Reims and Avranches. Sgt. Hehl, a son of Mrs. Hehl and the late Arthur Hehl of Sciotoville, was a bombardier on a B-26 based in England at the time of his last flight. He attended Portsmouth East High school. Besides the mother, he leaves a brother, William, in Chicago and a grandmother, Mrs. Warren T. Price, 6606 Gallia st, Sciotoville. |
