On his return he had planned to enter the Graduate School Foreign Service in Georgetown. They were interested in the affairs that were happening in the world.
Frank was a gunner in a Sherman tank "Wader", he landed in the first wave of assault on Easy Red at 6:30.

His unit is attached to the 1st Infantry Division. The tank was hit by an artillery shell in shallow water and sank.
4 crewmembers managed to reach the beach except for one member who was injured and evacuated.
Frank continued to fight on the beach until the afternoon.
He was hit by artillery shells at the foot of the cliffs. Frank's wife never remarried and Deranda is their only child. All she knows about her father comes from the letters he wrote to his mother or the testimonies of the family or veterans who knew Frank. These letters were published in a magazine.
President Clinton read one of these letters at commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the landing.
Frank was a scholar, an athlete he was a good footballer and a good boxer, according to his comrades he was happy when a fight was triggered because it turned out that it would turn to his advantage.
Frank was a sensitive and romantic man. He loved his country and wanted to fight for his ideals.
