John Proudfit Eaton was also known as John P. Eaton, Jr. He was the son of John Page Eaton and Zella Alice Proudfit. He grew up in Portland, OR, where he worked as a messenger for the Southern Pacific Railroad before he was drafted into the US Army. He entered service in March 1942, and served as a radio operator. He was buried in the village churchyard. His body has never been recovered. | |||||||
