| Cpl Hurthle was born on January 31st, 1910 in Penwater, Michigan and was killed in action [DOW in England from severe wounds [thigh/buttock/hip/pulmonic insufficiency via artillery shell/frags] sustained near Amfreville] on June 16th, 1944 during the Airborne invasion of Normandy. Cpl Hurthle is the son of Gottlieb Hurthle [1864-1957] a landscape gardener and the son of Mattie Hurthle 1930/40 US Census for San Marino, CA shows Hurthle residing at # 1734 Lorain Rd with his parents and siblings Lucille, Selma, Maxine and Herman [WWI Veteran] Preston is a Class of 1930 Pasadena High School graduate. Cpl Hurthle enlisted in the Army on May 4th, 1942 at Los Angeles. His record states Hurthle had completed 2 years college, was single.Hurthle was 5.11''/142lbs with brown hair and hazel eyes.
