STORY

Archibald B (seventh from left)

By Nephew of Archibald B

This aircrew photo contains my Uncle, Sgt. Archibald B. Parker Jr. (7th from right in back). He was KIA 4/4/43.

However, I cannot be certain that this crew photo is from A/C 42-5146. Parker was wounded in a prior action and recovered in England before his final flight in A/C 42-5146.

While recuperating, he was able to visit his English Grandmother (Eliza Weeks Parker) who lived at "Stream Cottage" Duck Lane, Westbury-sub-Mendip Near Wells, Somerset. The house is still owned by Jennifer Parker.

We were never able to determine any details about his first combat action in which he was wounded and recovered for several months. One of his brothers related a story that they crash landed on return from a mission and that's where he was wounded but no other detail. Also, eight Parker brothers were in the ETO and three managed to get to somerset to see their Grandmother. (Reg P. Parker 7/24/18).
