In 1936 he was employed at H & H Food Market in Bowman

Elmer first died of LST 523 on board, was the 300th Engineer Combat Battalion.

LST 523 struck an underwater mine on June 19, 1944. The explosion that followed cut the ship in two, 94 passengers and 41 crew were killed.

LST 523 left Portsmouth on 06/18/44.

On June 19, 1944, the boat anchored off the landing beaches, the LST 523 was carrying tanks and ammunition.

The 207th engineer combat battalion participated in the Louisiana maneuver from August 8 to 27, 1943.

The 207th engineer combat battalion passed through the SWIFT camps, the SHANKS NEW YORK camps

he embarked for England on 12/03/1943

he arrives on 09.12.1943 at Grennock ESCOSSE

The 207th engineer combat battalion crossed england passing by

- LARKSTOKE camps on 03.02.1944

The 207th engineer combat battalion is attached to the 1110th engineer combat group on 03.03.1944 between 16.06.1944 and 28.06.1944 the battalion crosses the channel in 3 successive waves, part of the 2 nd wave will disappear on 19.06.1944 at the start of the LST 523, 18 members of the 207th will disappear 4 are declared killed in action and 14 will be declared initially missing in action

The LST 523 type MK 2 built by JEFFERSON BOAT AND MACHINE CO (INDIANA) launched on 06.1.1943

NOTE: in the pants of a victim of this mine or found a piece of paper. the soldier could never be identified because only the legs remained. he was missing the upper body.

On this paper there was a list of names of soldiers with the annotation: SECRET EMBARKEMENT ORDER AND ROSTER
