Floyd was originally from Kimberly, Wisconsin, USA.
He attended the famous military school of St Norbert College and on June 6, 1943 he joined the 66th Infantry Division of the Black Panthers.
The division arrived on St Nazaire's pocket on 1 January 1945 to relieve the 94th Infantry Division.
On February 2, 1945, under the command of Captain Avrett, he executed an infiltration mission to Bouvron.
At 9:30 am, the Second Lieutenant and his men were shot by MG. The situation becomes critical and the Squad with one wounded is trapped in a ditch.
To cover his stuck men, Floyd heroically loads the German machine gun nest that threatens them. He will lose his life.
