STORY

The crash from the C47 from Lloyd C Mahurin, Sidney H Jablowitz, Sam Kahn, Louis E Rapin and Cecil E Bell.

It was on its way from Nutts Corner, Norther Ireland towards St Mawgan Airfield, Cornwall, England.

Due to bad weather conditions they got lost and overflew their target ending up above occupied France.

They were there shot down by 2 FW190 fighters from the 2nd Von Richthofen Squadron.

The C47 crashed in a field near the town of Pleuven, Brittany, France.

Four men were killed in action, 2nd LT Lloyd C Mahurin, 2nd LT Sidney H Jablowitz, Cpl Sam Kahn and Flight Officer Louis E Rapin.

His Douglas C-47A-DK (DC-3) went down near Pleuven, Brittany, having departed from Ireland. It was part of the 1st Troop Carrier Command, 433rd Troop Carrier Group.

It had been chased by 2 Messerschmitt German fighters, crashing near a farm. Only (Crew Chief) Sgt. Cecil Earle Bell survived. 2nd Lt. Lloyd C. Mahurin, 2nd Lt. Sidney H Jablowitz and Corporal Sam Kahn also died of injuries.
