Aujourd'hui, je voudrais rendre hommage à John R. OFFUTT qui a payé le sacrifice ultime pour la liberté de la France.
John est né à Keystone, en Virginie-Occidentale et est diplômé de l'Université Stetson en Floride.
Il était un professeur de lycée lorsqu'il s'est rencontré et est tombé amoureux d'une femme qui deviendrait sa femme.

Ils ont déménagé dans les Florida Keys où il a joué au baseball de ligue mineure et a enseigné High School.
Lorsque la guerre a éclaté, John est entré au service et a ensuite été envoyé en Europe avec l'armée des États-Unis.
En juin 1944, John R.Offutt était un 1er lieutenant au 117e régiment d'infanterie, 30e division d'infanterie. Le 23 juin 1944, il a été tué en action.
Il repose maintenant en paix pour l'éternité au Cimetière américain de Normandie, Parcelle I, rangée 25, tombe 17.
