The B 17 Chug a Lug takes off with 9 men from the base of Rigdwell (England) station 167. Above the target, the plane is hit by DCA shots, the aircraft was last seen over the city of Gornmersheim with an engine on fire, the fire spread to the entire plane. The left wing exploded and B 17 went into a spin then turned on its back. 6 parachutes were reported, 2 of which jumped from the front of the plane (glass roof), one of the 2 men was in flames. 2 ont été fait prisonnier. Pas de trace du 9ème Aviateur. B 17 crashed at Nammhein Neckarau in the Waldstabe near football field, it was 11:45.
