Pvt Wather BODEK killed during the landing, his father never knew because he died in July 1944 and his mother in 1926. His first name on his birth certificate was "Waslaw". He was known by the Americanized version of "Walter". He resided at 700 Spruce Street, Wilmington, DELAWARE, served as a Private in the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion of the United States Army during World War II. I He had served in the military for one year and five months at the time of his death and was awarded a Purple Heart.
