Theodore “Teddy” George Ferentinos was born August 1, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents George and Katherine Ferentinos came from Greece to Canada in September 1914 with Teddy’s three older sisters. After Theodore was born, three more children were born in the USA. His father owned a Variety Store. Both George and Katherine returned to Greece and that is where they are buried. He was working in a Restaurant in 1941 when he registered for the draft. He then enlisted on August 20, 1942 in the United States Army Air Forces and served during World War II. Ferentinos had the rank of Staff Sergeant. Service number assignment was 32461783. Attached to 94th Bomber Group, Heavy, 410th Bomber Squadron as a Tail Gunner.. S/Sgt. Ferentinos lost his life on May 29, 1943. He was on the crew of the B-17 #42-29710 "Hell Below". During a mission on May 28th to the naval depots at Rennes, France, he was one of two men killed in connection with this mission. He was badly wounded by a Flak shell in the upper right thigh and was helped to bail out by fellow crew members who pushed him out of the stricken B-17. He landed in the Ille et Rance canal near Saint-Malo and was immediately taken prisoner. The Germans put him in hospital in Saint-Malo and Teddy died there from loss of blood the day after the crash. 2 casualties related to the #42-29710 incident on May 28, 1943. Tail Gunner: S/Sgt.
