R.G. Brinkley was born on November 9,1923 in Maysville,OK. he was the fifth child out of nine children born to Bump and Oza Brinkley.

He lived in Maysville until he was 12 years old and the family moved to Oklahoma City in 1935.

He was raised on a farm in OKC and in his teenage years helped his dad farm the property. In those days a child had to quit school and help with the farming. He only attended the Ninth grade of school.

The City of Oklahoam City was building a dam for the city water system.

He worked with my dad on the earthed dam until he enlisted in the Army on Feb.19,1943.He was 19 years old and assigned to the 740th Tank Battalion for training.

This was the time the Allied Forces were fighting the Germans in North Africa.

The training was done in Arizona because this was the closest terrain sinilar to the desert in Noth Africa.A secret weapon was being developed that was a blinding light that would blind the German tank drivers in North Africa.
