Alfred FAFLIK was born in 1918, the eldest of five children. The family lived in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from West High School and spent three years at the Ohio College of Chiropody in Cleveland studying podiatry. He married Dolores FEDENLUSKI. Subsequently he was employed at the Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Co. as an inspector due to his level of study.
In 1943 he was declared a priority in the service, so he began his service in March 1944 and joined the US Air Force officer corps. He was qualified as a naval officer and sent to the Mediterranean theatre at the US Air Force Headquarters. He’s on board B-25 Mitchell. On January 17, 1945, he wrote to his little brother Raymond: "I think I will soon see very beautiful landscapes and transported important people." On February 6, the 2nd Lt FAFLIK took off from an airfield in Italy with Maj. GROBMYER and B/Gen. EATON flying a B-25. | |||||||
But along the way the plane suffered a mechanical failure and crashed near Chatel-Montagne at about 14:30. No crew member will survive. |
