 2Lt Melville Ree Manning was the Co-Pilot on B24H 41-28965 376th Bomb Group, that was hit by flak immediately after bomb release over Toulon on August 6, 1944.

Before the Liberator crashed, four crew members parachuted to safety, but Manning and four others were declared MIA, later KIA.

In 1948, Manning's remains were positively identified in a Toulon cemetery and reburied in the U.S. Military Cemetery at Luynes, France. Manning was born in 1916 in Pasadena, CA and enlisted in the Air Corps in March, 1941...

He wed Grace V. Ward in California April 20, 1943
