B17-G #42-102610 took off, with a crew of 9, from Nuthampstead, England on a bombing mission over Bischofsheim, Germany.

Shortly after takeoff this B-17 was seen with smoke trailing from the engines and to eventually crash into the English Channel.

Upon impact with the water the B-17 exploded. Rescue operations found "1" crew member struggling in the water ( 1st Lt. Walker ) but they were unable to rescue him before he perished.

The remains of "2" other crew members were also later found ( S/Sgt.'s Fox & Stewart ).

The remains of the rest of the crew were never found.
