Adelmann was born in Manitowoc WISCONSIN, he was part of Saint-André parish, a student at Lincoln school and high school.
His brother was also enlisted, assigned to a searchlight battalion at Davis camps NORTH CAROLINA.
On July 28, 1944 the regiment was located near JOLIMONT. At 4:50 am he prepares the artillery before an offensive, the 2nd and 3rd Battalion encounter little or no resistance. By 2:00 p.m. all units had reached their targets Line 71 Line 70 Gridline 69. For the 1st Battalion a last progression which brings it up to Line 63. He died on July 28, 1944 during this offensive. Official notification was received Thursday morning by Mr. and Mrs. William Adelmann of the death of their son. Jérome is the 55th child to die from Manitowoc during this conflict. Regimental nickname GRAY BONNETS nickname given because of the regimental song. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
